• Name of S. Holston teen drowning victim released. The name of a teen who drowned near a boat dock in South Holston Lake Thursday evening has been released.
• Tuition goes up by $546 at ETSU next year to pay for raises, football. East Tennessee State University saw the largest increase in overall costs among TBR schools at $546 more per year per undergraduate student who takes at least 15 hours of class each semester.
• Man accused of choking woman at Buffalo Street apartment. A noise complaint from a Buffalo Street apartment led Johnson City police to arrest a man early Friday morning on an assault charge.
• Dennis Walters golf show at Elizabethton. Trick-shot artist Dennis Walters appeared at Elizabethon Golf Course on Friday. Walters, who was paralyzed from the waist down in a golf-cart accident in 1974, has spent the ensuing years delivering an inspirational message through golf.
• Little City Roller Girls hosting state tournament, starting today. • Bryan lifts JC Cards past K-Mets. Vaughn Bryan hit a base-clearing triple in a four-run inning and four pitchers combined on a shut out in Johnson City’s rain-shortened 5-0 win over the Kingsport Mets in an Appalachian League baseball game Friday night at Hunter-Wright Stadium.
• ETSU Foundation CEO Manahan will step down July 1. East Tennessee State University’s Foundation CEO is stepping down from his post effective July 1 to become a full-time professor, he confirmed Thursday.
