A Johnson City man was arrested Monday after an accusation that he assaulted a woman and threatened to kill her with a box cutter outside some North Roan Street apartments after smoking crack.
John Anthony Tucker, 33, 608 N. Roan, Apt. 6, was charged with aggravated domestic assault.
Police said Heather Richardson, 21, called 911 saying she was being assaulted. As police arrived at the apartments, Tucker was holding Richardson up against a wall in the doorway. He ran inside when he saw police and left the apartment trough the back door.
Police found him a short distance away at 211 E. Fairview Ave.
Richardson told police she caught Tucker smoking crack inside the apartment and she informed him she was moving out. She said he snapped and began punching her in the face. He threw her belongings on the front porch, and while they were outside, he continued to hit her face and slammed her head into a door.
Richardson told police Tucker pulled out a blue box cutter and pointed it at her, saying "I am going to kill you" before holding the box cutter to her neck. He told her if he could not have her, no one could.
Her face was swollen, but she told police she did not need medical attention.
Police found the box cutter on the porch at 211 E. Fairview.
He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance today.
