The Advent wreath has the five candles lit on Christmas. The four outsde candles represent the four Sundays of Advent and the white center candle for Christmas Day. The wreath designs vary, this design is used at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, located at 201 E. Watauga Avenue in Johnson City.Chrismons are used to decorate the Christmas trees in many Lutheran homes and churches and were first developed by Frances Kipps Spencer at Ascension Lutheran Church in Danville, Virginia in 1957. The symbols depict the Life of Christ.
