ABINGDON, Va. — A 28-year-old man has been arrested in the death of a 2-year-old girl in 2012.
Gregory Matthew Marlow, 13269 Fall Hill Road, Abingdon, has been charged with second-degree murder resulting from an investigation into a May 2012 incident at an apartment in Bristol, Va.
Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman said deputies and rescue personnel responded to a call of an unresponsive 2-year-old girl who had been brought to the Washington County Fire and Rescue Squad building from 16090 Lee Highway, Apt. 1, Bristol. The child was taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead soon after.
Newman said an the Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in consultation with the Washington County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office conducted an extensive investigation. He said statements provided to detectives proved inconsistent with autopsy results.
Marlow was held without bond in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon.
