I have been buying the Johnson City Press for over 40 years. A good newspaper keeps us informed and preserves our freedom. I find it very difficult to keep buying a newspaper that gives me full pages of readers’ family pictures, local landscapes and loved pets. The reason for this letter is a story on Nov. 20 under the headline, “Local VA facility ranks among top performers.” This story also noted the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home captured this award in 2010.The article was written by Press staff writer Tony Casey and appeared on page 5A. The VA is important enough to this area that the article was worthy of the front page, even if it was no longer Nov. 11 (Veterans Day). What bothered me the most is the story didn’t even bother to name the hospital administrator. I find that odd. The administrator deserves an accolade and shouldn’t be overlooked. If the VA had received a bad rating, would the administrator’s name had been be overlooked, too? COLETTE KERNSJohnson City
