Two Asheville women charged with shoplifting items from multiple Johnson City businesses

Two Asheville, N.C., women were arrested on shoplifting charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 26 Thursday evening.
According to a Johnson City police release, Jessica Mapp, 26, 13 Klondike Ave., and Artiscia Shivers, 29, 673 Sand Hill Road, Apt. J3, were stopped by police, where officers saw large amounts of clothing inside the car and in its trunk.
Mapp and Shivers reportedly admitted stealing the items from numerous places in Johnson City, including stores in The Mall at Johnson City.
According to the release, both women were taken to the police department, where items from 14 different stores were inventoried.
Mapp and Shivers were each charged with 11 counts of shoplifting, theft under $500, one count of shoplifting, theft over $500, and two counts of shoplifting, theft over $1,000.
Both women were taken to Washington County Detention Center where they were each being held on $26,000 bond, pending their arraignment today at 9 a.m. in Sessions Court.
