A man already wanted by authorities now faces additional charges after deputies discovered multiple one-pot methamphetamine labs at his residence while attempting to serve him with outstanding warrants.
According to Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal, deputies went to 125 Scenic Drive in Boones Creek on Friday morning to serve the warrants on Richard Norris, 42, for previous charges of violation of probation, failure to appear and failure to report to jail.
Norris wouldn’t answer the door when officers knocked, but the could see him trying to hide under the structure, according to a press release.
“We went in on some warrants (Friday) morning and the guy barricaded the door,” Graybeal said. “The boys had to beat the doors down with some sledgehammers.”
Norris reportedly was found hiding in a crawl space beneath the floor. Twelve one-pot meth labs, meanwhile, were discovered in the garage area of the home along with a small amount of the finished drug.
Haz-mat crews were called to the scene around 8:15 Friday morning and remained there for several hours to clear the area of the contaminants.
