A Hampton woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly used a stolen credit card to purchase merchandise at JC Penney in the Mall at Johnson City around Christmas Eve, police said.
According to a news release from the Johnson City Police Department, Janice Dee Scalf, 44, 127 Cates Corner, was charged with forgery and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card under $500.
Police said Scalf was served with an outstanding warrant following her release from the Carter County Jail on unrelated charges. She was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where she was held on $1,000 bond.
Scalf is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court today at 1:30 p.m.
