ELIZABETHTON — Three burglaries were reported on Shalom Drive in the southwestern section of Carter County on Friday. Shalom Drive is a dead end road off Tester Road and is described as normally a very quiet neighborhood, according to Capt. Mike Little of the Carter County Sheriff's Department.

Hayes Davis told Deputy Brian Smithpeters of the sheriff's department that items with a total value of nearly $60,000 were stolen from  his Shalom Drive home on Friday.

The stolen items included a jewelry box containing hundreds of items of jewelry with a total value of $30,000; 47 firearms with a total value of over $17,000; and a briefcase containing $10,000 in cash and several vehicle titles.

Davis and his wife left their residence at 11 a.m. on Friday and returned at 1 p.m. When they arrived, they noticed the kitchen door had been kicked in. Davis said the burglar searched the entire house.

A neighbor, Donald White, said burglars also hit his house. He said he was the last person in his home to leave on Friday at 7:40 a.m. His wife returned home at 1 p.m. and noticed the basement door was open.

When she entered the house, Mrs. White said she saw that the burglar had searched the whole house. The only missing items were a 12 gauge Charles Daily pump shotgun and an iPad computer.

Another neighbor and a relative of the Whites, Tim Younce, said a burglar had also broken into his home. The only item Younce reported missing was a 180-piece Craftsman tool kit, although the burglar had searched throughout his house. Younce said he left his residence at 7:50 a.m. on Friday.

"The investigation is continuing and we have some good leads," Little said Tuesday morning.

Another burglary was reported on Garrison Hollow Road on Friday afternoon. Dale Roberson said all the rooms in his house had been ransacked and all the drawers had been searched.

Items  Roberson reported stolen included approximately 9 gold necklaces and other jewelry from his wife's jewelry box, a pair of men's and a pair of women's Oakley sunglasses, three G-Shock watches and a PlayStation Portable game system.

The burglar broke the back door to get into the Garrison Hollow home.
